About
Hailing from Monterey, CA the author has spent over a decade working within the Dept. of Homeland Security.
During that time he developed numerous lifelong relationships with People in Law Enforcement, in the Spec Ops Community and various Intelligence agencies.
This has culminated in an avid interest in terrorism both at home and abroad. From the events of both 911 and the invasion of Mosul by ISIS in May of 2014 it was clear the Twenty-first century was one that would have to confront the problems driven by Islamic Extremism for some time to come.
The events in this book are fictional but are events that may actually occur on American soil. The big question is when…

CRISIS…While America Slept
As Liz Jennings, a junior member of Liberty Crossing, aka the NCTC or National Counter Terrorism Center, hunts for perpetrators of coordinated acts of domestic terror, the plan to smuggle the material into the United States is revealed but only by a stroke of good luck. Even so, she is quick to seize the bread crumbs and follow a trail that will lead her on a chase that will make or break her career.
While all of this is going on we get a glimpse into the politics of the war on terror. More to the point the war against ISIS. While this is an undeclared war from America’s perspective those who are at the top of Islamic State welcome the war and are prepared to bring it not only to Europe but to the land of the infidel devils to the west.
Those that choose to operate outside the purview of the President have chosen to take the fight to Syria where ISIS has made its base of operations. Black Moon, a project formed by the heads of the CIA and NSA have already taken the fight to ISIS. Now they have become a major player as a source of information thanks to a high-level capture within the ranks of ISIS.
The story is fiction. It is a story that could happen. The question is will we stop them before the hit us. FEMA produced a document on terror in 1997 showing the twin towers framed in cross hairs. The question is are we still that complacent? We are in their cross hairs now. The question is not when and where will the next major attack on American soil take place.
The question is…How bad will it get?
REVIEWS
As a retired Spec Ops soldier I have been all over the planet-hunting bad guys. The tale that is offered in CRISIS is not only plausible but far too likely in many ways. ISIS represents the greatest threat to America in our time. The story in the book is a page-turner to be sure and I recommend it to all.
– Tom (1st Sergeant retired, Delta)
Without a doubt, this is the best thriller I have read in a very long time. After several tours in Iraq/Afghanistan I have seen the evil man can do and the book tells it like it is, sadly. This book might keep you up at night so be warned. I have already passed this book to several of my teammates and it gets a resounding thumbs up.
– Scott Keough, Navy Sr. Chief, Retired, BUD/s Class 205 EOD Class 91-10.
Get on board with Martin Clem’s gripping new novel CRISIS. Clem paints a frighteningly realistic picture of what America has been dreading since 9/11, the emergence of Islamic extremist savagery on our soil. The fearsome determination of this death cult will keep you awake at night, the kind of book you read straight through. CRISIS is an adventure that will haunt you because it’s a plausible scenario, just a question of when. Clem places his breakout story in historical context and it reads with gritty realism, like a documentary. I am already anticipating Clem’s next offering for my library.
-M. A. Grasso, Federal Agent
Chilling is the word I would use to describe CRISIS – While America Slept. As a federal investigator, I am aware of the looming threat of large-scale terror attacks on American soil. This novel captures that fear and brings it home with a resounding and inescapable reminder of how vulnerable we are to the coming threat.
